Lumière is a free art-at-night festival held each September in Sydney, Cape Breton. This year’s festival will take place over three days from September 21-23. With the signature art-at-night event held from sunset to midnight, Saturday September 23rd, 2017. Lumière presents contemporary projects in any artistic medium that engage audiences in new aesthetic experiences.

Lumière is a platform for collaboration, cross-pollination, and dialogue between artists and audiences. The festival connects the local and visiting audiences with diverse forms of cultural expression. Venues are located in public and private spaces on Bentinck Street, Charlotte Street, and the Esplanade between Townsend and Amelia Streets.

Lumière presents projects from artistic disciplines including (but not limited to): Visual Arts, Theatre & Performance, Music & Sound, Film & Video, Fine Craft, and Dance. Priority will be given to projects that address Lumière’s mission by creating engaging, interactive, and/or collaborative audience experiences.

Lumière 2017 call for proposals is now closed. Artists participating in the 2017 festival will be announced in June.
