Sean Howard and Basma Kavanagh

Sean Howard and Basma Kavanagh

Poemtree
Saturday Sept. 23, 7PM-Midnight
NDCSI Convent lawn, 37 Nepean St.

This installation expands on a Japanese tradition of hanging poem slips to celebrate changing seasons. We will celebrate poetry itself. Bring a favourite poem in any language, or a poem you have written. Put your poem on a slip to hang in the POEMTREE’s branches. Or, choose a poem slip at the site. Transform the tree, word by word.
Sean has published three collections of poetry. He is adjunct professor of political science at Cape Breton University and a frequent contributor to local media on issues of war, peace and the environment. Basma Kavanagh is a Nova Scotia poet, visual artist, and letterpress printer.
